Driving

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

Well,  it’s time to press on, we are on our way to Salzburg.  I am pretty excited, one of my travel mates tells me we had to go here because it’s ‘sooooooooooo pretty’ (her words not mine), so we are back on the road again, I love looking at the scenery, I love how it changes as you progress, and I particularly like all the green. Back home has been very, very dry, brown and boring to look at, but not here!! Just check it out!   In this photo you can see me with the map navigating (this photo wasn’t a deliberate shot of me, but I thought I would post it anyway):

Here is another shot of me looking out:

Germany driving

It’s a quite day, lots of driving, it’s certainly a different pace to the sightseeing days. But I think it’s when you drive (especially if you take the non major roads), where you get a better feel for the country, you get to see the non touristy side of a country, and you can stumble across some of the best stuff (like we did Legoland, although that might not be the best example).  The freedom of having a car is great, we haven’t planned this trip at all, and if a town or a scenic road looks interesting, we just take it.

We have been listening to some of the radio stations on the trip, which is cool (we already know the words to the songs and have been singing along, or at least we sing something that somewhat resembles them!), and we have our cds to listen to, so when you get a little tired you can just put on your favourite song and chirp at the top of your voice!  Good fun.

Last part of chicken in Legoland

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Some more photos of Legoland….

This is a tower thingy where as you travel up, you turn around so you get a view of the whole park without leaving your seat (or rail in my case), so here are some shots of me looking out:

Just after lift off:

Bottom of tower

You can see the water ride from this one, that was a fun ride:

Legoland tower 2

Other side of the park you can see a bit of the monorail:

Legoland tower 3

Excellent photo of the roof of the toilets (the one with the cool sign)…hmmmm, oh and the little lego cities:

Legoland tower 3

I just realised, I should have just stitched these all up (although might look funny with 5 chickens in it, although I could argue that it was just successful cloning):

Legoland tower 4

You can see the taller part of the roller coaster in this pic, I am feeling very tall looking down so far down:

Legoland 5

Well, that is (I promise) the end of my photos at Legoland (I probably took more here, than the whole time I was in Paris!!!!!).

Legoland Deutschland part 2

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Following up from yesterday, here are some more photos of me around the park. Here I am bravely perched on the front of our safari vehicle going through the lego jungle.  They had all sorts of animals, lions, monkeys, crocs etc.

While I had a rule not to post photos without me in them, this sign deserved inclusion, it made me laugh:

Here is me hanging out with the guard outside the roller coaster, I tried to annoy him, but he never moved, very professional:

I found a sign to the chicken house, but could never find it, I thought it was a house for me, but apparently it’s actually a house where people eat me which I found a little disturbing:

Some more of me, this time you can see the monorail, you got to peddle it around the park which was fun:

Here is me with an interesting dragon, can you see me?

Here I am a little closer:

Hee heee, me trying out my luck in a lions mouth:

lego lion

While having fun, running through lego cities, going on the rides and all the usual stuff, I decided that it was now time to pull apart a statue or two (isn’t that the whole point of lego)?  And I must admit I was very disappointed that I couldn’t. In fact it wasn’t lego at all, it was a just a great big mould!  Ripped off…. I thought I could make a giant yellow chicken out of that lion, but apparently that is no allowed.

I am still deciding on my favourite ride, I think it has to be the one where you are on a boat and drop into the water.  But the roller coaster and monorail were both fun too (especially on the monorail when you can run into the person in front of you if they are going too slow).   Oh, one last thing I guess I should mention; if you are wondering if you should visit the park, I better let you know that the park is aimed at a lot younger crowd than Disneyland, the rides are slower and a lot fewer, so keep it in mind.  But if you are like me (ie will act like a kid at any opportunity), and are driving past, then I recommend dropping in!

I am off, I hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving!

LEGOLAND!!!!!!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

What are the odds?  We jump in the car from Disneyland and head off into Germany, and what do we find?!   LEGOLAND!

An amusement part and lego all rolled into one, something this Chicken couldn’t resist (even if it was only for the afternoon).  I actually enjoyed myself more at Legoland than Disney, I am not sure why, perhaps less people, perhaps more silliness, or maybe it’s because you get to regress back into childhood remembering how awesome lego was (and then acting like you are 8 again).

Either way, I got out and about and had my photo taken: This series is called ‘Where’s Chicken’  I hid in the lego cities (I figured since the signs said don’t touch and they didn’t say don’t climb in, I would be ok), see if you can find me.  Hint: there is a little fake grass covering me:

Here is another, at the station:

Hmmm, who ever took this photo needs glasses, I seem to have lost my body:

chicken legoland3

To make up for it, here is a close up. I am like a giant chicken here, I could really get used to it…..maybe I should live here….stuff the pretty disneyland castle I found the other day, I want to be ‘Giant chicken, king of all Legomen’.  Awesome.

I would have taken many more in the cities, but it wasn’t always easy to get me there, and so we settled for the next lot of photos to be taken around the park.  See if you can see me with my lego family (with the cat):

Maybe this is karma coming back to bite me, seems someone wants grilled chicken for lunch (don’t bother looking for me, I am too hard to see):

The close up:

I will post part 2 tomorrow, still more lego goodness to come!
